Mobile Device Management SOTI - Facts and Questions
Any Samsung or Zebra (formerly known as Motorola Solutions) device with OS v2.3 or higher is able to work with Pocket Controller.
To find out what version of Android is installed on your device:
- On the home screen, press the Menu button on your device
- Select Settings
- Scroll to About Phone, and tap it.
- Your Android version should appear here.
Pocket Controller for Android can be used on the following Windows operating systems:
Windows 7, and 8, both 32 and 64 bit.
Windows Servers are not supported.
Processor: Min 1 GHz Processor
Memory: 1 GB of RAM
Hard Disk: 20 MB
The Android SDK is a tool kit provided by Google so that devices can communicate to your computer through special API's. We use the ADB tool so that Pocket Controller can connect to your Android device through USB. You can get the SDK here.
Pocket Controller for Android is currently only available for Microsoft Windows based desktop machines. Future versions of the product may support other operating systems, however only Microsoft Windows is currently supported.
Click on the Pocket Controller for Android checker flag button, and then click on "About Pocket Controller for Android" to view the version and build information.
Pocket Controller for Android is an independent product and will not work with Windows Mobile, Windows CE or BlackBerry devices. Please click here for more information on Pocket Controller for Windows mobile devices.
Personal firewall and anti-virus applications including Windows Firewall can block Pocket Controller for Android's connection attempt to your Android device.
If you are experiencing difficulties connecting Pocket Controller for Android to your Android device, please temporarily disable your firewall / anti-virus software from your Windows Control Panel or the software's interface and try again. If this resolves the connection issues, you would need to configure your anti-virus / firewall software to allow Pocket Controller for Android access to your device.
You would need to configure your firewall(s) to allow Pocket Controller for Android access through TCP Port 5491.
Open the Pocket Controller App on your device and it will state the IP address here.
Unfortunately this feature is unavailable at this time. This feature may be included in a future release of the software.
Skins / Display
The latest available skins are located in the Skin Catalog within Pocket Controller for Android. To access the Skin Catalog, click the View tab, select the Skin drop down button and then Skin Catalog.
- To Configure Pocket Controller for Android to use skins, from the Pocket Controller for Android button, select Settings.
- In the Settings dialog box, select a connection from the "Connection List" field and click on the "Edit Profile" button.
- On the "Edit Connection Profile" dialog make sure that "View in Skin" is checked, and in the "General" field select the skin you want to use.
If you would like to add a skin for a Android device to our Skin Catalog, please send us a high resolution straight-on image of the device through email at email@example.com. Please make sure that the image is high resolution (minimum 4 mega-pixels) and that the background color is solid white.
Pocket Controller for Android can automatically detect the model of your connected Android device. Because of this, Pocket Controller for Android can automatically apply the appropriate skin that matches your device's model.
